Hey, friend, I’m Michelle, and I want to help you overcome intimidation and overwhelm when it comes to Bible study. You don’t have to rely on current Bible study teachers or your pastor to interpret God’s Word for you. You can do it yourself with a few simple tools, and it’s easier than you think.
My Story
Growing up in church, I learned about God’s Word. I memorized whole chapters of the Bible and heard numerous teachings on various Biblical topics. I could recite all the well-known stories like Noah’s Ark, David and Goliath, and Daniel in the Lion’s Den. But they were just stories without a whole lot of meaning.
During my younger years and even early adulthood, reading the Bible seemed like more of a chore, something to check off the list in order to fulfill my responsibilities as a good Christian girl. It intimidated me because I didn’t understand a lot of it. I didn’t know how to study it, and as much as I hate to admit, it bored me at times.
It was during a time of severe depression that God’s Word began to come alive to me. God’s Word became my lifeline during this time. I clung to a few specific passages of scripture, and God began slowly transforming me from the inside out. Over the years, I have learned some strategies for studying the Bible that have helped me grow tremendously. The Bible is not boring to me anymore, but instead, I find delight in reading God’s Word.
More recently, my eyes have been opened to the fact that much of what I have been taught or what I perceived was incorrect. Because of that, I believe now more than ever in the importance of learning how to read, study, and interpret scripture on your own.
My hope is that you, too, will learn to study the Bible and find delight in the only Book that can radically transform your life.
